Exhale. 🌬️

We arrive at the Turning of the Wheel.

A perfect time of Recalibration.

What is the self knowledge we’re distilling down and carrying forward with us as a sacred elixir in 2026?

🌚 With the final New Moon of 2026, Mother’s Night, & the Solstice, this is a time of lunar and solar rebirth.

Mother’s Night (Modraniht) — celebrated on the eve of the Winter Solstice — honors the Divine Feminine in her many forms: the Great Mother, the ancestral matriarchs, and the nurturing forces that carry life through darkness into light. In ancient Anglo-Saxon and Celtic traditions, this night marked both an ending and a beginning — a sacred pause before the sun’s rebirth. It’s a time to tend your inner hearth, honor the mothers who came before you, perhaps create an altar to your matrilineal ancestral line, and plant the quiet seeds of what you’ll birth in the coming year.

For those of us in the northern hemisphere -

Sunday, December 21 is the longest night. With no moon to light the way as we are in the time of the dark moon, this time of rich, fertile darkness is the perfect place to sow seeds of intention for the coming season. Throughout winter, the light will slowly begin to return, days getting longer, nurturing your seeds.

  • What do you want to focus on during this liminal season of Winter, leading up to the turning of the year, astrologically speaking - the real New Year - on the Spring Equinox?

  • What seeds would you like to germinate in these cold, dark months?

  • What do you want to watch sprout & grow in the Springtime?

This is a good time for extra meditation or just generally being in a posture of mindfulness, moving slow, taking your time.

If you feel a bit exhausted, it’s appropriate, let yourself rest! We’ve been through a lot of collective & individual trauma this year (& the year before, & the year before that, &….).

Yet - let us remember that through all the horrors we’ve witnessed &/or experienced, some really great movements of solidarity & victory have emerged too. We have a long way to go, but let us also remember how these moments of overcoming - individually & collectively - are connected back to many others throughout time.

As you reflect over the past year -

  • What has shifted for you?

  • What have your breakthroughs been?

  • Going forward, what are you refocusing on?

  • What are you rededicating yourself to in 2026?

  • What are you clearing out of the way, in order to make space for what’s to come?

  • What feels like it’s coming to an end?

  • How are you feeling about the ending of the calendar year?

  • Are there things you wish you would’ve focused on this year but didn’t?

  • What do you want to avoid being derailed by in the coming year?

(Also keep in mind, we are in the final weeks of shedding our skin in the Year of the Wood Snake, until we enter the Year of the Fire Horse, on February 17, the Lunar New Year.)

Get clear on what you want to put a lid on,

what loops you want to close,

what baggage you want to pack up.

Let your external activities inspire or reflect the internal, do some literal cleaning out of some drawers, organization of your space.

Then -

Rather than setting New Years’ intentions, just focus on the next 12/13 weeks.

Prioritize what you value.

  • What is your heart moving you towards?

  • What is your intuition whispering in your ear?

  • Without overthinking or overcomplicating things, can you allow yourself to receive, and even be in awe of, the blessings flowing your way?

While you move through the busyness of this season in the coming week or two - remember to pause too, breathe on purpose, and focus on feeling the in-between, liminal moments.

Try to keep an elevated perspective during the weeks to come, as though you’re a bird or a spirit soaring above, looking at life from a broadened view.

Let’s, as much as we can, close down the calendar year in a really conscious way, without panic. Remember, time is an illusion, and the New Year period is actually the whole winter season. As for the holidays - do what works for you!

If you struggle with this time of year, if there’s something or someone you’re mourning, next Saturday one of my signature workshops, Honor Your Grief, returns. Join us, 11-1 EST to transmute some of the pain.
