The Healing Art of Reiki
Reiki is a beautifully accessible & powerfully effective energetic form of healing in which the practitioner channels energy into the recipient by means of touch or intention, activating the natural healing processes of the recipient's body.
The Reiki practitioner is a conduit for universal life force, Divine Source Energy, which flows into the recipient and awakens their life force, the Source Energy that already exists inside of them.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - "Rei" which means soul, spirit, or Universal life force and "Ki" which is life force energy. So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
This is a form of healing that is compatible with all others, and transcends religious orientation.
For in-person sessions, the hands are placed on the body, or several inches above the body in the biofield, as needed, and often the recipient will feel a great warmth emanating from the practitioner's hands. Reiki has an intelligence of its own, and I say 'by means of touch or intention' because Reiki actually works from a distance as well. It is a different experience from receiving Reiki in person, but people often report feeling the sensation of my touch, feeling my presence as though I were there, in addition to feeling relief from relevant symptoms, an overall sense of peace and wellbeing, and sometimes a profound movement of energy, or other sensations.
After years of practice, I liken it to 'plugging in,' similar to how electricity works when we plug into an outlet. In a sense, the Reiki practitioner is like a charger. When giving Reiki from a distance, I connect with you in my consciousness and imagine that I am touching your body or biofield where healing is needed, and it works! This is a powerful form of healing that never ceases to amaze me, and the only way to truly understand it is to experience it for yourself.
If you are interested in taking it further and wish to become initiated into the Usui lineage of Reiki practice, I offer comprehensive Reiki Immersion trainings. Read more below.
Next cohorts will be announced soon.
Your first session with me will usually go like this:
I explain how I generally work, dovetailing together different modalities, and talk about what Reiki is. We begin with a short opening meditation to ground and center. The session begins with an exchange. What are you looking for, why have you come?
I will ask you to paint the broad brush strokes of your life, give me the big picture - where you are at in your life right now, significant events in your past, challenges and successes, and what your goals are. How long we talk depends on the length of the session. Here is where I organically incorporate Transformational Life Coaching and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Then you lay down, fully clothed, on a massage table under a blanket, or occasionally, I'll have you sit or stand. Enjoy the restorative experience of Reiki, noticing what you experience. Reiki closes, we share what we experienced, and I give you some homework, even if I may never see you again.
The majority of my private clients book 2- or 3-hour sessions with me. Longer sessions give us an opportunity to really dive in and explore a bit more in-depth. If you're ready to Jump In for a personal mini retreat, go ahead and book a 3-hr session! My aim is to facilitate Deep Restoration & Transformation for your entire being, bringing balance to all aspects of your Self.
I prefer a minimum session length of an hour and half. Especially if it's our first time, I consider an hour session a teaser of my work. Read more about my private sessions on the 1:1 page.
Sessions are customized to your needs and desires, so if you need a shorter session, we will keep our talking as brief as possible.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Book a session from the service list below or from the 1:1 page.
